About Ms. Hittle

About Me:
As a life-long Michigander, I've always had a love of the outdoors.  Hiking, fishing, biking, swimming, kayaking...I love it all!  My favorite vacation spot is Copper Harbor, at the tip of the Keewenaw Peninsula in the U.P.  It's an entirely different world up there, and I think everyone should make a point to visit!

My interests are not only outside, however.  I love reading, sewing, crafting, cooking, and playing with my cat (Mac), mouse (Chai), and marine hermit crab (Krusty).  My favorite books are science fiction, historical fiction, and mysteries.  I experiment with all kinds of recipes (using friends as guinea pigs), and enjoy watching Food Network more than any other channel on TV!
Oh, and I should probably mention that I am a huge baseball fan.  GO TIGERS!!

Why I Teach Science:
Even as a little kid, I had a passion for exploring nature and asking "why."  Science projects, labs, trips to museums, and being outside cemented my love of science, and urged me to take it further.  Being passionate about learning how things work and why, I developed a desire to spur interest in others!  In my own perfect world, everyone would love chemistry, physics, biology, etc.  I know that this isn't necessarily the case, but I believe that everyone can discover new, interesting things by learning science, observing nature, and staying informed about new advances in science and technology.  Science can explain things from why we see rainbows, to why mixing together your cookie ingredients leads to a soft, delicious treat :)
